Part 1: Bath Green Park to Masbury Summit.

A fresh look at Ivo Peters’ film of the Somerset & Dorset Railway (S&D) which closed in 1966.

In Part 1, after a brief introduction and a glimpse of the man behind the camera, we travel down the line from Bath Green Park to Masbury Summit, 811 feet above sea level on the Mendips.

The subsequent volume (The Somerset & Dorset Railway, Part 2 Dvd: Masbury Summit to Broadstone) completes the journey to Broadstone and then returns to Bath from Evercreech Junction on a freight train.

Ivo’s son, Julian, is the narrator for this totally new programme, which has been remastered in its entirety.

It includes previously unseen archive film, as well as a new sound track, with then and now shots at several locations.

On the inside of the dvd cover is a map of the line, plus a gradient profile, giving an overall picture of the railway.
