Description

First released in 1977, this DVD has been re-mastered using the original telecine tapes made from Ivo’s 16mm film.

Some picture and sound editing has taken place to enhance the programme.

The voice over is by Martin Muncaster.

This is the seventh volume of general steam and very nearly the end of steam on BR.

The programme opens in 1966 with a brief visit to the Settle & Carlisle, then – moving south – the Swanage branch, the Military Railway at Longmoor, and a final farewell to the Somerset & Dorset.

On the industrial front, Storefield Ironstone, Portland Cement at Shipton on Cherwell and collieries in Leicestershire, Somerset, and at Mountain Ash, show a variety of locomotives.

In 1967 we return to the Settle & Carlisle, and then bid farewell to the Cromford & High Peak line in Derbyshire.

Next, we have a burst of steam on Southern Region before the final withdrawal in July.

We close with “George Sholto” on the Bressingham Railway being driven by Alan Bloom, and a brand new “Muffin” at Longleat on her steaming trials.

A list of all the locations in the video is on the inside of the cover along with details of the industrial locomotives.

Approx. 65 minutes.
