Description

A Day at Barnetby including Knabbs Bridge and Brocklesby Junction.

For a number of years now, the small Lincolnshire village of Barnetby has been one of the best locations in the UK for freight trains.

With three lines merging at Wrawby Junction and passing through Barnetby station itself, there is a regular flow of imported coal, petrochemicals, iron ore and steel, serving the docks and industrial areas of Immingham, Lindsey and Humber.

Filmed on 19th June 2012 – one of the best days of the summer (it didn’t rain!) and the one of the longest days of the year, an entire day of train movements were recorded at Barnetby as well as the popular location of Knabbs Bridge plus New Barnetby level crossing and Brocklesby Junction.

In total, twenty-seven different locomotives are featured including four Class 60s, 66097 in DBS red livery. 66522 in ‘Shanks’ livery.

Many other EWS, Freightliner and GBRf Class 66s plus a few DMUs to complete the picture.

As well as the passing trains, see the various signals and gantries, signal boxes and other infrastructure in this traditional railway setting.

Add to this an informative commentary and here is Barnetby at its very best.

No rain, no camera shutter noise, no vehicle noise on bridges, no wind in the microphone, no wobbly shots, no chit-chat as trains pass – guaranteed!
