Description

See work vehicles depots and snow scenes.

Also Routes 601, 602, 72 plus more.

This production follows trams and trolleybuses through their heyday and through to their fall.

Watch both passengers and workers on this wonderful now redundant system in and around London from the early 1900s through to the 1960s noting how landmarks, fashion and scenes have changed.

This programme was released in 2002 to mark fifty years since the end of London’s trams and forty years since the end of its trolleybuses.

Through a stunning selection of archive film (much in colour) this programme tells the story of the capital’s trams and trolleybuses, including their glory days and their fall from glory.

It also includes the re-introduction of the trams in Croydon.

Many great scenes feature the men and women of London Transport, plus their passengers.

Action-filled junctions such as Vauxhall, Elephant & Castle, Gardiner’s Corner, Manor House, Nag’s Head, Holloway, the Embankment and famous Kingsway Subway.

Includes work vehicles, snow and depot scenes, overhead wires, trolley poles and conduit, those gone overseas and those with new homes in Leeds and Sunderland.

Non-stop trams and trolleybuses including Felthams and Diddlers.

Approx. 60 minutes.
