When Winconsin Transportation took over British Rail’s Trainload Freight operations in 1996 it renamed it English Welsh & Scottish Railways (EWS).
One of it’s first actions was to place an order for 250 brand new locomotives with General Motors to replace it’s ageing fleet of engines.
The first locomotives shipped to the UK arrived in June 1998.
The locomotives were then shipped at the rate of 11 per month, until the order was completed in 2001.
This exclusive dvd features footage of all 250 of these locomotives filmed between 1999 and 2002.
Filming locations include:
Banbury, Barnetby, Cardiff, Derby, Didcot, Doncaster, Eastleigh, Garsdale, Leamington Spa, Millbrook (Southampton), Newport, Norton Bridge, Oxford, Rugby, Stafford, Swindon, Tamworth, Tring, Water Orton, Westbury, Willesden, Wolverton and more.
