Description
For a company that started out with a handful of Class 20s and a few flask trains to haul on the Cumbrian Coast, there is no doubt Direct Rail Services has come a long way.
With the purchase and return to service of many of the popular ex-British Rail locos, such as Classes 20, 37 and 47 and their pleasing livery of blue, DRS are a firm favourite amongst enthusiasts too.
In recent years, adding to this already impressive line up is the introduction of more ‘Tesco’ trains, more autumn ‘water cannon’ trains and high-profile passenger work hauling the Northern Belle and the Cruise Saver Express.
Add to this the humble flask duties and various railtours – as far and wide as Penzance to Thurso – and this is DRS Locomotives Part Two.
The second DVD in the series carries on from where part one left off and follows the development of the fleet and the trains they haul from 2008 to 2012.
With Class 20s coming and going, the purchase of the 37/4s, more 47/8s and 57/0s, a reduction in Class 66s and the recent acquisition of ex-Virgin Trains 57/3s, there is no doubt DRS has a versatile and interesting fleet.
Also includes footage of the Crewe and Carlisle depot open days.
Filmed from over the UK, see the DRS fleet as it stands today.
