Railways of Wales DVD, Volume 3 – Chester & Wrexham to Holyhead
The North Wales Coast was served by a busy main line with express services and freight. In addition there were a number of branches serving North Wales and the Isle of Anglesey. The motive power was dominated by ex-LMS designs and BR Standards. This volume explores these lines and their motive power and workings in the era of British Railways.
Into Wales by the Cambrian and Great Central Railways: The Wrexham Mold and Connahs Quay and Great Central route from Wrexham through Penyffordd to Chester Northgate.
Chester to Llandudno Junction: The main line busy with holiday traffic and freight heading along the coast through Rhyl and Colwyn Bay. Black 5s, Britannias, Duchess Pacifics and special trains are featured plus Rhyl Shed along with shunting duties and the transition to diesel traction.
Llandudno Junction: This busy junction with a wide variety of traffic in the BR era along with the steam shed.
Branches from Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno.
Along the Coast: The busy main line through Conwy and Penmaenmawr to Bangor with freight and passenger traffic behind a variety of steam classes. Plus a look at Bangor in the 1960s and 1970s
