B&R .86 Dvd: Along LMS Lines, Part 3

Description

The previous two volumes in this series covered London to Crewe via Wolverhampton and Manchester.

Before continuing our journey north, this programme gives a flavour of the ex-LMS in general.

Using film from the Ray Webb collection we cover the area from Derby to Manchester, the Settle and Carlisle, the CLC around Northwith, Crewe of course and the West Coast main line to Carlisle.

Filming from 1962 the motive power is a wealth of Coronation pacifics, Scots, Jubilees, Patriots, 4Fs, Super Ds, 1Fs, Black 5s and 8Fs.

There are visiting engines along the way to give immense variety.

Even the demise of Jubilee ‘Minotaur’ which crashed near Altrincham.

Recommended viewing for all fans of the Midland Region.

A programme covering steam traction on ex-LMS lines from Derby to Cheadle Heath via the Peak District line and Chinley.

There are scenes on the Settle & Carlisle line to Dent and Blea Moor.

The CLC lines are seen at Northenden, Glazebrook Junction, Skelton Junction and the line to Northwich and Middlewich.

An 4F Visits Hassal Green from Alsager.

Crewe in 1963 produced super power with Princess Coronations, Jubilees and Scots.

Follow the West Coast Main Line north to Shap summit via Moore, Acton Grange Junction, Winwick, Brock, Grayrigg and the Lune Gorge with the same express power but the odd Crab and Patriot can be seen.

Filmed by cameraman enthusiast Ray Webb between 1962 and 1967, this is a veritable collection of events, some unique, recorded within this programme.

Visits to the S&C by a V2 and Duchess locomotives.

All film material is in colour and the film has an extensively researched commentary and an authentic sound track.
