Description
Harvesting the way it was done in days gone by.
Vintage tractors, binders, early towed, self-propelled combine harvesters, threshing machines, plus other harvesting equipment and the like being used to bring in a real harvest.
A group of farmers who have kept and acquired a great variety of vehicles and equipment for use on a field of wheat left standing.
Having done this for many years this was to be the last year (held on 3rd September 2011) and we were there to capture it all.
Terry Keeves, his family and friends demonstrate how harvesting was done in days gone by in fields around the Northamptonshire village of Moreton Pinkney.
This was undertaken with vintage tractors, binders, early combine harvesters and other vintage harvesting equipment.
The demonstration has taken place for the past seven years to raise money for local charities, cutting and threshing a field of wheat left standing just for the purpose.
But 2011 was the last year, a week after the event the vintage vehicles and equipment was sold off.
This programmes is therefore a lasting record of how these machines are set up and used, covering the day of the event and the preparation activity required beforehand to make a success of the day.
Approx. 90 minutes.
