Part 2: Masbury Summit to Broadstone.

A fresh look at Ivo Peters’ film of the Somerset & Dorset Railway (S&D) which closed in 1966.

The first programme (The Somerset & Dorset Railway, Part 1 Dvd: Bath Green Park to Masbury Summit) in this series brought us from Bath to Masbury.

In this second volume, we continue our journey down the line from Masbury Summit to the Mendips, 811 feet above sea level, to Broadstone, the end of the Somerset and Dorset line itself and eight miles from Bournemouth West.

We then make a return journey from Evercreech Junction back to Bath on a freight train.

Ivo’s son, Julian, is the narrator for this totally new programme, which has been remastered in its entirety.

It includes previously unseen archive film, as well as a new sound track, with then and now shots at several locations.

On the inside of the dvd cover is a map of the line, plus a gradient profile, giving an overall picture of the railway.
