At the end of 2005 the last slam door departed London and this DVD looks at some of the units which took over the services including class 375’s and 377’s.

Saturday 26th November 2005 saw the very last slam door train to depart from a London Terminal.

This was to mark the end of an era of over forty years of service by these reliable trains.

This programme takes an uninterrupted look at what is now a bygone era, we look at the archive filmed since 2000.

Also shown are special tours such as the Southern Belle.

Although the majority of slam door trains were to leave the network they continued further use on Lymington branch where upon footage is shown.

Another feature is of the preserved unit at East Kent Railway in Shepherdswell.

Our camera captures two of the special trains to run organised by the Southern Electric Group.

The Southern Belle filmed from the train.
