Looking back at the Routemaster buses through their heyday of the first twenty-five years of operation in London between 1956 and 1981.

We start with views of early Routemasters when first introduced as part of the trolleybus conversion programme.

Then a look at the introduction of lengthened Routemasters (RML’s) followed by prototype front loading Routemaster RMF1254.

Also shown are Routemaster Coaches for Greenline services (RMC’s) and their lengthened versions (RCL’s).

A further introduction of RML’s and another experimental front-lading Routemaster RMF1 introduced in June 1967.

This programme also features the changes to the large fleet that have been made with surplus stock being transferred into part of the training fleet.

Buses with were to receive special advertisements for Queens Jubilee in 1976 and Shillibeer Celebrations of 1979 are shown as well as the acquisition of British European Airways Routemaster fleet.

The programme finishes with the 25th Routemaster Anniversary Celebrations that included a tour of the large depot and works at Aldenham.
