Originally released in the summer of 1995, this programme has been totally re-mastered, giving first rate picture quality.

Narrated by Martin Muncaster.

During 1963 and 1964, Ivo Peters visited 21 collieries in Ayrshire and filmed over 50 locomotives owned by the National Coal Board.

The programme opens at Minnivey Colliery in Ayrshire, followed by Walkden near Manchester.

We then move to the East Midlands around Nottingham, followed by the Cannock Chase area and finally to Warwickshire.

On the inside of the cover is a full list of the collieries he visited, plus the locomotives, their notation, makers, date of manufacture and name or number in order of appearance.
