Cab Ride DVD: Glasgow Central to Lancaster via Beattock & Shap Summits

Description

This Cab Ride was recorded from the cab of HST Power Car No.43013 during its journey from Glasgow Central to Lancaster.

The train, which was the IV52 at 08.50 hrs, will eventually progress to Penzance.

We take this journey during a severe snow storm in January 1996 and have to take the Wishaw diversion route due to the main line being blocked by snow.

There is some fascinating railway detail during the journey which is fully described by Driver Leader John Thompson of Edinburgh Waverley which includes a sequence when the AWS equipment failed and the train halted for a period.
