The date is 11th September 2002 and Virgin Voyager 220023 is set to depart for Glasgow Central.

Soon after departing, we pass by Kingmoor Depot where several class 20s, 56s and 66s are seen.

Our first stop is at Lockerbie after which the train progresses up Beattock summit and then through some stunning scenery and approach Carstairs.

We then call at Motherwell and approach the outskirts of Glasgow itself crossing the River Clyde and into Central’s Platform 9.

Speeds up to 110 mph are achieved during this passenger service.
