THE BR Standard Class 4 2-6-4T.

There are nearly fifty Standard type ex-British Railways locomotives in preservation.

Fifteen of them are the Standard Class 4 Tank engines in the 80xxx series and this film traces the development of the class and gives particular reference to 80072.

The dvd uses archive film to follow the development of the class, from Fowler’s 1927 2-6-4 tanks through Stanier and Fairburn classes to the Standard 80xxx class themselves.

There follows coverage of the transformation of 80079, when visiting Llangollen in 1993, to 80072 by the 8G Freight Promotions Group.

The full story of how this was achieved and how the photographers arrange the best run pasts in private operation of a 1950s passenger train are divulged!

Archive and video material is in full colour and sound with a descriptive commentary.
