Description

The Jim Clemens Collection Volume 7.

In this film he turned his attention to the East Coast line and associated LNER routes in the north.

Suffice to say many of the favourite LNER classes are seen between Kings Cross and Newcastle in the early 1960s.

There is a shed visit to the M&GNR and extensive coverage of the lines in Yorkshire around Scarborough.

Also the North East coal trains and an exclusive view of the LNER Garratt at Sheffield in 1930.

Jim again at his best.

A journey along the East Coast main line from Kings Cross to Newcastle with some of its associated routes.

Scenes at Langley and Corby Glen show steam in all its glory before the demise south of Peterborough in 1963.

A brief visit to Sutton Bridge shows the M&GNR route.

York served the coastal routes to Scarborough via Market Weighton, Beverley and Filey with B16, V2 and B1 steam power.

The now closed routed to Whitby via Robins Hood Bay is seen by a rail tour with K4 and K1 moguls.

Return via Grosmont and Pickering over the then open connection to Malton and most stations to York.

Travel down the East Coast line via Northallerton and Doncaster to Newcastle.

Visit Gateshead shed and the coast line at Tyne Dock and Ryehope Grange with some industrial scenes at Seaham, Philadelphia and Wearmouth.

There are thirty-three pacifics and an assorted mixture of V2, B1, B16, K1, Q6, J27, V1, V3, J72, WD and Standards and even a view of LNER Garratt 2395 at Sheffield.

This programme comes from the Jim Clemens collection of superb railway films, in colour and black and white.

It has an informative commentary and an authentic sound track has been added thereby achieving the best out of the original all archive film.

Approx. 60 minutes.
