The North West.

The age of mechanical signalling on the National Network is drawing to a close.

In this series we document the last areas of semaphore signalling and signal boxes against a backdrop of passenger and freight workings.

This Volume explores the North Western area of the former Midland Region, from Lancashire to the Cumbrian Hills and Coast.

It also includes archive film from the 1960s and 70s.

The programme comprises:

Lancashire and some survivors on the lines through Burscough Junction and Parbold.

Plus Hest Bank, Carnforth and Carlisle in the present day.
