The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the only complete branch line in the UK has held many successful events and hauled thousands of passengers along the picturesque five mile branch line throughout 2014.
Throughout the year, the railway held many events including their famous Winter and Autumn Steam Gala events featuring visiting engines from around the UK.
The Winter Steam Gala of 2014 was held during March 2014, featuring at the event was LNER K4 No.61994 ‘The Great Marquess’ plus freshly restored USATC S160 No.5820 running in BR Black.
Running for the final time in BR Black, freshly overhauled USATC No.5820 made its first gala appearance since returning to the Worth Valley after a long overhaul.
Visiting the railway for the event was LNER K4 No.61994 ‘The Great Marquess’ which can often be seen hauling mainline charters around the UK.
Footage is also included of LNER K4 No.61994 on a freight photo charter at the railway.
The Autumn Gala featured the long awaited return of ‘The Volcano’, SR West Country No.34092 ‘City Of Wells’ after an absence of over 20 years at the Worth Valley.
The event also featured long term visiting engine LMS 5MT No.45305 making one of its final appearances in BR Black.
After proving popular during the 2013 season at the Worth Valley, LMS 5MT No.45305 continued to haul services at the Worth Valley during 2014.
Normally based at the Great Central Railway, the ‘Black 5’ became a regular candidate for motive power once again on the Worth Valley throughout the year.
Other events were held at the railway during 2014 including Vintage Train Services with LNWR ‘Coal Tank’ No.1054, Beer and Music Festival, Santa Special services and many others too.
