The British Rail class 31 first entered service in 1957 and was one of the pilot scheme locomotives ordered as part of the British Rail modernisation plan to replace steam traction.

Built by Brush Traction between 1957 and 1962, a total of 263 locomotives were constructed.

This exclusive DVD features footage of class 31’s working light engine, double headed, convoys, freight and passenger from the 1970s right up to their final workings in the early 2000s.
