To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the first underground route from Paddington to Farringdon in 1863, our resident artist has painted “Wartime on the Underground” depicting a scene at Trafalgar Square at the height of the blitz.

Many Londoners took refuge on the platforms deep below the streets for safety, as can be seen in this delightful but poignant scene.
