Jacobite Dvd: Fort William to Mallaig 2009-2014

‘The Jacobite’ runs along the famous West Highland Railway Extension completed in 1901 from Fort William to Mallaig.

The West Highland Railway is notorious for its gradients and tight curves, neither of which are locomotive friendly which provides some tremendous demonstrations of the steam engines hard at work.

The railway passes many significant landmarks including the famous Glenfinnan viaduct.

Built between 1897 and 1901, spanning 21 arches this was one of the largest undertakings using concrete at the time.

Whilst curling around to the little village of Glenfinnan.

The viaduct is probably better known for its role in the Harry Potter movies, although offers stunning views down Loch Shiel.

During the 84 mile round trip the train journey takes you through some of the magnificent scenery Scotland has to offer passing several loch's, climbing steep banks and curving round some strenuous corners.

The journey passes Britain’s highest mountain, deepest loch, shortest river and most westerly station.

Our dvd takes you through our footage filmed between 2009 and 2014 which features engines:

LMS 5MT No.44871
LMS 5MT No.45231 'The Sherwood Forester'
LMS 5MT No.45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’
LNER K1 No.62005 'Lord Of The Isles'
LNER K4 No.61994 'The Great Marquess'

Due to the demand an extra afternoon service ran from 2011 which meant two steam services once again pass at Glenfinnan.

A variation of lineside shots were captured over the six year period some of which include:

Arisaig
Beasdale
Drumsallie
Glenfinnan Station
Glenfinnan Viaduct
Loch Nan Uamh Viaduct
Loch Eil
Loch Eil Outward Bound Station
Loch Eilt
Mallaig
Morar Viaduct
And many others.

A well as the lineside shots, footage is included from Fort William Yard where the engines are based overnight.

Approx. 88 minutes.
