Part 3: A Mediterranean Odyssey – P&O Liner Iberia 1965

In this series of programmes we are looking at cruising during the 20th Century.

Part Three tracks the changes over the years starting in the 1930s.

We follow passengers on cruises both on the ship and ashore.

We can join them on their excursions and see how fashions, buildings and transport have changed over the years.

This time we have chosen the P&O liner ‘Iberia’ as our host vessel, but in truth the footage was shot be a number of people on various ships in the 1960s.

The films have been collected by Joe Clark, who himself served in the Merchant Navy and also travelled as a passenger.

Now retired Joe and his wife Queenie, cruise whenever time and resources permit.

We visit eight Mediterranean ports:
Cannes
Gibraltar
Lisbon
Monte Carlo
Naples
Piraeus
Rhodes
Venice
Before returning to Southampton

During the voyage we will see various other liners and cargo vessels, notably:
Angola, Australis
Canberra, Conte Biancamano, Cristoforo Colombo
Giulio Cesare
Independence
Leonardo da Vinci
Mount Olympus
Oriana
Queen Anna Maria
Santa Maria
Plus others
