Jigsaw Puzzle: Memories of Poole Quay

This lovely time piece depicts Poole Quay in 1960.

An ex-London & South Western Railway  B4 0-4-0 tank engine No. 30093 is seen on shunting wagons along the quay where the road traffic and steam engine share the same harbourside.

The shunter 'flagman' has his red flag at the ready to warn other road users in case of an emergency.

'Embassy' the paddle steamer is pulling away with her day trippers to Brownsea Island and the local customs officer is keeping a watch on proceedings after coming down the steps from the customs house.

The historic Town Beam, located outside the Georgian Customs and Excise building, was used to weigh goods so that duties could be paid.

Also in view the Mercedes Sports and Morris Minor cars.

Re-Issued 2014.
