London in the 1950s Dvd

A programme by Totally Archive.

As the name suggests all the footage on this dvd is archive amateur footage.

We do not pad out our dvds with contemporary footage or still photography – all ‘Totally archive’.

All the footage was shot on silent film but we include interesting informative commentary where appropriate.

The footage on this dvd was all shot in the 1950s by a mix of professional and amateur photographers.

Views of the Coronation with the street decorations and crowds of well-wishers.

Rare colour shots of a Thames Pageant with many decorated floats making their way up the Thames.

There is a section on the Festival of Britain before we take a look at public transport in the Capital.

With early shots of planes at Heathrow, tube trains and buses.

Chessington zoo and fair are shown before they became "The World of Adventures".

Suburbs are shown being built after the destruction of the war years, including road building.

Plus much more to take you back to an era sixty years ago.

Approx. 59 minutes.
